Magazines
Magazines that focus on history are a great place to find unique topics that no one else will think of doing. Many of the articles are written by historians who have written longer articles as well as books on the subjects they explore in these magazines.
- Smithsonian Magazine – Great articles on both World and U.S. history, often inspired by current pop culture. Sample: What can we learn about medieval Britain from the movie The Green Knight?
- Humanities: A Museum of the National Endowment for the Humanities – Cutting-edge topics based on brand-new research. Sample: a history of the pirate next door.
- American Heritage Magazine – Strong on presidential and military history. Sample: “Eavesdropping on the Rising Sun.”
- Library of Congress Magazine – Great stories based on primary sources available through the Library of Congress. Sample: Comics, An American History.
- Prologue – Little-known but fascinating histories based on National Archives documents. Good for immigration, military, and presidential history. Sample: “When Saying ‘I Do’ Meant Giving Up your U.S. Citizenship.”
