This year is the 50th anniversary of History Day. In the past two years History Day has almost doubled in size. All Regions of Arkansas are now participating, and thousands of Arkansas students did a History Day project at their school this year.
The top projects from schools advanced to one of our 6 Regional contests held in February and March. Contests were held at Harding University, the University of Arkansas, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, University of Arkansas at Monticello, and The Museum of Natural Resources.
The top 3 winners per category at Regionals advanced to the state contest. This brought almost 300 students to the University of Central Arkansas on April 6th. At the end of the day 60 students were selected to represent Arkansas at the national contest in June.
The attached list of winners includes the Top 2 who will go to the National contest, as well as the 3rd place alternate who will be advanced if one of the top two cannot attend. Our winners included schools that have done History Day for over 3 decades and schools where it was their first year. History Day is so proud of all the talent in Arkansas that was on display at the state contest.
