What:  History Day Workshop

When: Tuesday July 18, 2023, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm

Where: Harding University- Kendall Hall Room 121, N Turner St, Searcy, AR 72143

Who: 6-12th grade Social Studies, GT, English, Drama, Literacy, and Technology teachers and school Librarians.

What: You will learn how your school can get involved in NHD and why it is not just for History classes.  Learn how this program allows students to shine and build confidence through performances, papers, exhibits, websites, and documentaries. National History Day also meets Literacy frameworks and offers students the opportunity to strengthen their skills in research, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.  You will learn about this year’s theme and collaborate with other teachers.  There will also be a presentation on The British Monarchy related to this year’s theme by Dr. Julie Harris who specializes in this area of History. You will also hear from this year’s New History Day teacher of the year about what she learned in her first year and what the process was like from the start to her travel with her winning students to Nationals.

Up to 6 hours of Arkansas Professional Development credits will be available for attending the workshop.
